about

Where Do We Go From Here initially seems to defy easy categorisation yet somehow manages to weave it’s disparate modes into a little gem.

It has a very spacious, and at times ethereal, mid-tempo rock/pop foundation that somehow manages to combine echoes of country and soul guitar in a way that works beautifully. The lead vocals are given plenty to room to shine with a lovely mix of resignation and optimism in the main refrain. The chorus is particularly ear worm worthy and the outro is definitely one of those moments made for unrestrained solo car singing.

lyrics

Here she comes
All that I can say
Is stay with me
Where are you going?
Tired of life's tidal swarm

Well, you know
All that I can see
When you turn around
Is your eyes and your tired
And you can't get away
When the debt has won

Where do we go from here
Do we start with when we were young
Where do we go from here
When we're barely holding on
I need to know

Where's your smile?
All that I can see is coming down
To why you lied
When all you had to do was walk away

Where do we go from here
Do we start with when we were young
Where do we go from here
When we just keep waking up alone
I've got to know

All your friends they say that you're the lucky one
But to me you've always been the only one
In this mixed-up Art
We've come undone

Where do we go from here
Where do we go from here
Where do we go from here
Where do we go from here
Where do we go from here
I've got to know
